Economic pathways and voices of diversification in the Alpine mountain region to successfully adapt to climate change

In accordance with the 2021 Climate and Resilience Law, the Alpine Massif Committee is developing its plan for adapting the massif to climate change, with the following objectives:

  1. To operationalize its interregional land-use and development framework,
  2. To guide massif-level policies, both French and European, for the current 2021–2027 programming period and the upcoming 2028–2034 period,
  3. To equip actors in the massif with best practices.

The Massif Committee specifically identifies pathways for economic diversification looking ahead to 2050, while defining concrete milestones for the short term (by 2030) and medium term (by 2035). After several months of intensive work, the Committee aims to finalize and approve its plan by the end of September in a plenary session.

The Ski Débrief 2026 day, strategically scheduled within the Mountain Planet exhibition, provides an opportunity for several prominent voices from the massif to share, in a preview format, the potential pathways for the massif’s economic diversification.
